Two Chargesheeted for Alleged Sale of Counterfeit Farm Products

   

SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch, Jammu and Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet against two individuals in connection with an alleged case of cheating, criminal conspiracy and distribution of spurious agricultural products, officials said.

The chargesheet was filed before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sopore, in FIR No. 33/2018 registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and Section 3/7 of the Essential Commodities Act.

The accused have been identified as Shahbaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat, a resident of Goripora, Bomai, Sopore, and Kursheed Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Khaliq Mir, a resident of Shadimarg, Kalampora, Rajpora, Pulwama.

According to officials, the case stems from a complaint alleging the circulation of counterfeit “Glo Potash” agricultural products in Kashmir. During the investigation, the EOW found that the accused had allegedly conspired to distribute spurious products to obtain wrongful financial gains at the expense of orchardists, horticulturists and the company concerned.

Following the completion of the investigation, the Crime Branch filed the chargesheet before the competent court for judicial proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Economic Offences Wing advised the public to remain vigilant against economic fraud and report such incidents to the Senior Superintendent of Police, EOW Kashmir, Crime Branch, Jammu and Kashmir. Victims of economic fraud have also been advised to submit complaints through the official email address of the EOW. (KNC)
