Two Children Killed, One Injured In Tractor Accident In North Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: A tragic road accident in the Taad area of Tangdhar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday claimed the lives of two children, while another minor sustained injuries, officials said.

Official sources said that a tractor bearing registration number JK09B-4871 met with an accident at Qureshi Mohalla, Taad. The tractor was being driven by a local inhabitant of Taad. During the incident, three children were hit by the tractor.

The deceased children were identified as Aliya Bashir, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, aged about eight years, and Azlan Sajad, son of Sajad Ahmad Qureshi, aged about seven years, both residents of Taad. A third child, Shaizan Muneer, son of Muneer Ahmad, also a local resident, sustained injuries in the incident.

Officials said all the children were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Tangdhar for treatment. However, two of them were declared brought dead by doctors at the hospital, while the injured child is undergoing treatment.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further proceedings to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident. [KNT]
