SRINAGAR: Two individuals, Tashi Gyalson from Leh representing the BJP and independent candidate Mohd Haneefa Jan from Kargil, along with three others, are vying for the Ladakh Parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections.

The polling for this seat is scheduled for May 20, during the 5th phase of the ongoing Parliamentary elections.

In their affidavits submitted to the Election authorities in Ladakh, these candidates have disclosed their assets and liabilities. Among them, Mohd Haneefa Jan emerges as the wealthiest, with immovable assets valued at over Rs 3.16 crores, including properties worth lakhs of rupees.

He also disclosed cash, jewelry, and a car, along with a loan liability. Tashi Gyalson, the BJP candidate and former CEC of LAHDC Leh, revealed cash, bank deposits, and investments, along with immovable assets valued at Rs 97.34 lakhs. He also declared loan liabilities in his and his spouse’s names.

Tsering Namgyal, the Congress candidate and a prominent Tour Operator, disclosed his movable assets and his spouse’s assets, including a car and gold ornaments.

He also declared vehicle assets but did not list any immovable assets, mentioning only his loan liabilities.

Sajjad Hussain Kargili, an independent candidate and leader of Kargil Democratic Alliance, declared his cash assets and those of his spouse but did not mention any immovable assets or liabilities.
