SRINAGAR: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in two different operations and recovered psychotropic and contraband substances and cash from their possession in Pulwama.
A Police party of Police station Pulwama at a checkpoint established at Drusoo Pulwama arrested a drug peddler. He has been identified as Umer Hassan Yatoo, son of Gh Hassan Yatoo, resident of Drusoo Pulwama. During search, 22 bottles of Codeine Phosphate (KAIMODIN-T) and cash amount of Rs 10,800 were recovered from his possession. During initial enquiry, it surfaced that the accused was involved in selling Codeine Phosphate at high rates to encourage drug addiction among the youth.
Meanwhile, a Police party of Police Station Litter, during Naka checking, arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Aqib Khursheed Dangroo, son of Khursheed Ahmad Dangroo, resident of Zasoo. During search, Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
