The court awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on the convicts in FIR No. 19/2021 under Sections 8/22, 29 of the NDPS Act and Sections 420, 468, 471 of the IPC, registered at Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir (ANTF Kashmir).

The case stemmed from an operation conducted by ANTF Kashmir in April 2021, which led to the recovery of a massive consignment of contraband pharmaceutical drugs — 7,500 bottles of Z-REX syrup and 9,600 Zancavit capsules.

Following an extensive investigation, a 960-page charge sheet was filed before the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, on 10 March 2022. The probe, carried out under the supervision of SSP ANTF JK, ensured a strong evidence-based prosecution that culminated in the conviction.

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) JK lauded the investigating officers and prosecution team for their meticulous work, describing the judgement as a firm message to drug traffickers and a reaffirmation of JK Police’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace.

Officials said the conviction marks a major milestone in JK Police’s ongoing campaign against narcotics, reflecting the professionalism and dedication of ANTF JK in bringing offenders to justice.
