SRINAGAR: Two persons are feared drowned after allegedly falling into a power canal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday, officials said.
The incident occurred near the Ramwari area of Gund, triggering a large-scale search and rescue operation by the authorities.
Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local volunteers were immediately deployed to trace the missing persons after receiving information about the incident.
Officials said rescue efforts were continuing at the time of filing this report, with personnel searching the canal and adjoining areas.
An official associated with the operation said further details were awaited as the search continued.
The identities of the missing persons and the circumstances leading to the incident have not yet been officially confirmed.
