SRINAGAR: Two fugitives, who have been evading arrest for over three decades, were apprehended in north Kashmir’s Baramulla on Saturday, officials said.

A police spokesperson in a statement said, “Police Station Tangmarg arrested one of the absconders, Nazir Ahmad Ahanger, son of Ali Mohammad, a resident of Wahipora Tangmarg. Ahanger was involved in a case filed under FIR No. 58/1989 at PS Tangmarg.”

“Similarly, another absconder, Mohammad Ashraf Laya, son of Gh Rasool and a resident of Jamia Mohalla Baramulla, was arrested by a police team from Police Station Baramulla. Laya was involved in a case registered under FIR No. 99/1999 at PS Baramulla,” police said.

“Warrant of arrest was issued by the Hon’ble Court of Baramulla & Sub Judge JMIC Tangmarg against them respectively. They were evading their arrests since 1989 &1999 respectively. Both were produced before the Hon’ble Court of Baramulla & JMIC Tangmarg,” reads the statement.
