SRINAGAR: Two IAS officers from Jammu and Kashmir, both members of the 2024 AGMUT cadre, have been assigned responsibilities outside the Union Territory, with Anmol Rathore posted to Arunachal Pradesh and Arjun Gupta serving as Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development in New Delhi.
Rathore, a native of Udrana village in Bhaderwah, Doda district, secured the seventh position in the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023. She had previously topped the Jammu and Kashmir Combined Competitive Examination (JKCCE) 2022.
She pursued an integrated B.A. LL.B. degree from Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar, and appeared for the civil services examination with Law as her optional subject. She cleared the UPSC examination on her third attempt before being inducted into the IAS as part of the 2024 AGMUT cadre.
After completing her training, Rathore has now been posted to Arunachal Pradesh. The AGMUT cadre covers Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and the Union Territories, including Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.
Gupta, who is from Jammu, secured All India Rank 32 in the UPSC CSE 2023 and joined the 2024 batch of the AGMUT cadre. He is currently serving as Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development in New Delhi after completing his initial district-level practical training.
Gupta completed his schooling at Army Public School, Kaluchak, and later obtained an integrated BS-MS degree in Economics from IIT Kanpur. Before entering the IAS, he secured All India Rank 1 in the Indian Economic Service examination.
He had also earlier cleared the Civil Services Examination and joined the Indian Police Service as part of the 2023 batch. After appearing again for the civil services examination, he improved his rank to 32 and secured allocation to the IAS.
Rathore and Gupta were among four candidates from Jammu and Kashmir who were allocated the IAS following the UPSC CSE 2023. The other two candidates were Aparajita Aryan and Seerat Baji.
Their latest assignments place the two officers in different roles within the AGMUT cadre and the Union Government at an early stage of their administrative careers.
