Two associates of militants belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit have been arrested in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Monday.

Police officials said acting on specific information security forces including the J&K police, counter-insurgency 55 Rashtriya Rifles and the 178 Bn CRPF arrested the two militant associates near Wachi petrol pump.

“They were planning to attack naka party deployed at Wachi which remains deployed their for implementation of Lockdown,” officials said.

“During their frisking, a pistol and two grenades were recovered from their possession,” they said

“During preliminary investigation both the accused claimed themselves as militant associates of JeM outfit and they were provided arms and ammunition recently,” they added.

“In this connection Fir no.27/2020 under section 18,20,23,38,39 ULAP act,7/25 IAA has been registered at Police station Zainapora and further investigation was taken up,” police said.
