SRINAGAR: Two Kashmiri youth got selected for the international disabled cricket team of India ahead of the Bangladesh tour

A 25-year-old Nayeem Ahmad Malla physically disabled is among the two who was selected for the International Indian cricket team. The cricket team is supposed to play the ODI series against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

Nayeem Ahmad Malla, a shawl seller by profession, resident of Aarath village of Budgam has received the selection letter from the Board of Disabled Cricket Association to play at the international level.

Nayeem has also been selected to play in Test and T-20 matches for the Indian Cricket Team.

“On behalf of the BDCA and its Board members I wish to inform and congratulate you that based on your past performance and the recently concluded four days probable Cricket Selections Camp at Hyderabad organized by Board of Disabled Cricket Association, you have been selected in the Indian Cricket Team for the ODI series against Bangladesh. You have also been selected in a test match and T 20 series against Bangladesh,” says the letter sent to Nayeem by the General Secretay of BDCA, K Rami Reddy.

Nayeem has been a passionate cricket player in the district and has been hitting the ball with class and skill across the cricket turf.

Nayeem had already played matches at the national level and is waiting to play at the international level.

He said I was selling shawl’s in Kolkata and have worked as labourer as well adding that he belongs to a poor family.

“I am eagerly waiting for the day to play in the ODI, T-20 and Test matches against Bangladesh, and want to play in the World Cup in the year 2022,” he said.“I went through trials and tests in Hyderabad during which the selectors spotted my skill and I was selected,” he said.

Nayeem’s parents and the whole locality are delighted that their son will play cricket at the international level.

Second player Ferroz Ahmad Ganie, a resident of check Panjpora (Bijbehara) of the district has also been selected for the Indian Disabled cricket team for the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh which is scheduled to be played in Bangladesh.

After performing well in the recently concluded Probable cricket selection camp at Hyderabad which was organized by the Disabled Cricket Association (BDCA).

Before he met with an accident in 2014 Feroz play cricket like other normal boys. But after 2014 it was a hard time for him to continue his sports carrier.

“I met with an accident in 2014 and later I was bedridden at home for the next two years. Then I joined J&K’s Disabled Cricket Team” said Feroz. “should I call it my misfortune or a blessing, this accident gave me an opportunity to play in the JK’s disabled cricket team.
