An official said that suspected militants lobbed a grenade in Hakoora area when government function — ‘Back to Village programme’ — was taking place, killing two people and injuring four others.

He said that the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where two among them were declared brought dead.

He identified slain as Peer Syed Rafi of Hakoora and Assistant Agriculture Officer, Sheikh Zahoor and one injured was identified as Manzoor Ahmad Parray, a government employee.

Earlier, an explosion took place in the market near Sir Syed gate of Kashmir University in Hazratbal area in which three persons were injured.
