Two Killed, Three Injured After Boulder Hits Moving Tempo on Jammu-Srinagar Highway

   

SRINAGAR: Two people were killed and three others injured after a massive boulder fell onto a moving tempo on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Gangroo in Ramban district on Wednesday.

According to officials, the tempo, bearing registration number JK06B-9842, was travelling from Srinagar to Doda when the accident occurred. As the vehicle reached the Gangroo area, a large boulder suddenly rolled down the hillside and struck it, causing extensive damage.

Officials said two passengers died on the spot, while three others sustained injuries in the incident. All the victims are reported to be residents of Kastigarh in Doda district.

Following the incident, police, rescue teams and local authorities rushed to the scene and shifted the injured and the bodies of the deceased to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Ramsoo, for treatment and medico-legal formalities.

The damaged vehicle was later removed from the highway, and efforts were launched to clear the debris and restore the smooth movement of traffic.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident. The identities of the deceased and the injured have not yet been officially disclosed. Further details are awaited. (KNC)
