SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have arrested two militant associates linked with proscribed outfit LeT and recovered incriminating materials from their possession.
A police spokesman in a statement said that acting on specific inputs, Bandipora police along with 14RR and CRPF established a joint checkpoint near Papachan Bandipora Bridge and apprehended two militant associates linked with proscribed outfit LeT.
The spokesman said that they have been identified as Abid Waza son of Abdul Gani Waza resident of Bandipora and Bashir Ahmad Gojer son of Mohd Abdulla Gojer resident of Malangam Bandipora.
“As per police records, they were involved in providing shelter, logistic and other support to the active militants in the area. Besides, they were tasked by their handlers to carry grenade attack on security forces in Bandipora,” said the spokesman.
“Incriminating materials including two live Hand grenades have been recovered from their possession. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation,” he said.
“In this connection, a case under the relevant section of law stands registered in Police Station Bandipora. Further investigation is in progress,” said a police spokesman in a statement.
