SRINAGAR: Jammu and Police on Thursday claimed to have arrested two militant associates in Magam area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A police spokesman in a statement said that police along with the army have arrested two militant associates linked with proscribed outfit LeT and recovered incriminating materials from their possession.

The spokesman in a statement said that acting on specific input, Budgam police along with 2RR and 79BN CRPF apprehended two militant associates linked with proscribed militant outfit LeT from Magam area of Budgam.

“They have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Ganai son of Abdul Rehman Ganai resident of Kawoosa Khalisa and Zahoor Ahmad Chopan son of Ali Mohammad Chopan resident of Mamoosa Pattan. Incriminating materials were recovered from their possession,” said the spokesman.

“During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that both the arrested militant associates were in touch with LeT commanders and were involved in providing logistics, shelter, as well as transportation to the militants of proscribed outfit, LeT operating in areas of Kawoosa, Razwen, Rathsun, Mazhama, Pinjoora, Kunzar, Mamoosa areas,” he said.

“Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 95/2021 under relevant sections of law stands already registered at Police Station Khag and further investigation is under process,” said the spokesman.
