SRINAGAR: Two men have been detained and a car seized after a parking dispute involving a Srinagar-bound bus near a dhaba in Haryana’s Karnal district left a passenger injured and damaged the vehicle’s windowpanes, police said.
The incident took place on October 17 at Divine Star Dhaba, where an argument reportedly broke out between the drivers of a bus travelling to Srinagar and a private car over parking.
According to Karnal Police, a team from Butana Police Station was dispatched to the spot after information about the altercation was received at around 10 pm.
On reaching the location, police found the bus’s windowpanes damaged. The two men, identified as Mohit and Sawan, residents of Karnal district, were detained for questioning.
Preliminary inquiries indicated that the verbal exchange escalated, with Mohit allegedly damaging the bus’s windowpanes. One of the passengers was injured during the incident, police said.
No formal complaint was initially lodged as the parties reportedly reached a compromise, following which the bus continued its journey towards Srinagar.
Police subsequently registered a first information report (FIR) at Butana Police Station after receiving a complaint from the manager of Divine Star Hotel/Dhaba.
The Maruti Baleno car allegedly involved in the incident, bearing registration number HR05BQ2412, has been seized. Further legal proceedings are underway.
Karnal Police said the incident arose from a dispute over parking and clarified that no hate-crime element had been established. It also urged the public not to believe rumours circulating on social media.
