Two militants died in an encounter in Bomai area of North Kashmir’s Sopore district on Friday.
Reports said that an encounter ensued in the area early this morning between forces and suspected militants.
After exchange of gunfire, two militants died.
The bodies of both the militants have been kept in local Police station, reports said.
While encounter was going on, locals erupted in protests around the encounter site.
Reports reaching here said that youth took to streets and pelted stones on police and para-military forces who were deployed in strength in the area to quell any protests.
“Police tried to stop them which resulted in massive stone pelting.”
Later, police resorted to massive teargas and pepper gas shelling to quell the stone pelting youth.
