Two Hizb ul-Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter which broke out between government forces and militants on Thursday morning at Sharshali area of Khrew in south Kashmir’s Awantipora town in Pulwama district on Thursday.
Reports said that during the encounter two militants were killed, however, the identification of them slain duo was not revealed yet.
The gunfight began after a joint team of army, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Sharshali area after getting specific information about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.
“02 #Terrorists killed. #Arms & #ammunition recovered. No collateral damage took place during the encounter. Identities are yet to be ascertained(sic),” Police wrote on Twitter.
