Two militants were killed in an ongoing gunfight with the counter-insurgent forces in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar told Kashmir Life that two militants were killed so far in a gunfight while two more are believed to be trapped.
He said that the encounter started after counter-insurgent forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Asthal area following specific information about the presence of militants there.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon security forces, who retaliated.
The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained, he said, adding that the operation is going on.
