Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday said that two militants killed in Shopian gunfight were involved in series of attacks on security establishments.

The spokesman said that both the slain militants identified as Nawaz Ahmad Wagay, son of Ghulam Qadir, a resident of Rebban Zainapora and Yawar Wani, son of Ali Mohammad Wani, a resident of Batnoor Litter Pulwama, were involved in a series of attacks on “security establishments” and many other civilian “atrocities” in the area. The duo was affiliated the Al-Badar outfit.

The spokesman said that arms and ammunition including incriminating materials were recovered from the site of encounter. The spokesman have requested the people to not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials.
