Army Thursday evening claimed that it killed two unidentified militants Tangdhar Sector of frontier Kupwara district on 22/23 July. “The bodies of two militants have been recovered however, identification and affiliated Tanzeem is yet to be carried out,” an army hand out said this evening.
“The movement of militants was spotted along the Line of Control at evening hours of 22 July 2015. The counter infiltration grid in place immediately picked up the militants and kept them under constant surveillance till they reached within firing range. In the inclement weather, militants took shelter behind the boulders and the intermittent exchange of fire continued on 22 and 23 July 2015. The gunfight resulted in killing of two militants and splinter injuries to one Army officer and another army personnel who were evacuated to Army Base Hospital, Srinagar,” the statement said. “The condition of both Army personnel is stable.”
“Search of the area,” the hand out added, “undertaken in the afternoon on 23 July, resulted in recovery of two bodies of the slain terrorists along with two AK 47 Rifles, two Rucksacks and other warlike stores. The operation was continuing till last reports.”
