SRINAGAR: Two seven-year-old girls sustained injuries in a hit-and-run incident after an unidentified motorcycle struck them and fled the scene in the Yaroo area of Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday.
The injured have been identified as Ulfat Jaan, daughter of Mohammad Shafi Ganie, and Zahira Jaan, daughter of Shamisdin Ganie, both residents of Yaroo village.
According to reports, the girls were hit by a motorcycle while they were in the area. The rider fled immediately after the incident, leaving the injured children at the spot.
Both girls were initially taken to Sub-District Hospital, Langate, where they received first aid treatment. Owing to the seriousness of their injuries, they were later referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Handwara for specialised care. [KNT]
