SRINAGAR: Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukti Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Thursday attached two immovable properties worth around ₹1.05 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers in separate cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said the attached properties were identified during investigation as assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking. The attachment was carried out after obtaining approval from the Competent Authority under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA), New Delhi, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act.
One of the attached properties is a residential house along with the land beneath it at Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Noorbagh, owned by Aqib Mushtaq Kenu, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Kenu. The property, valued at approximately ₹50 lakh, was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 48/2022 registered at Safakadal Police Station under Sections 8, 21 and 29 of the Act. Police said the accused is presently out on bail.
The second property, valued at around ₹55 lakh, comprises a three-storeyed residential house, two commercial shops and the land underneath at Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal. It belongs to Altaf Ahmad Najar alias T.K. Khan, son of late Ghulam Qadir Najar. The attachment was made under Section 68-F of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 32/2021 registered at Kral Khud Police Station under Sections 8 and 21 of the Act.
According to police, Altaf Ahmad Najar is also under preventive detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act and is currently lodged in preventive detention.
The attachment proceedings were executed by police teams in the jurisdictions of Police Post Noorbagh and Police Station M.R. Gunj.
Police said the action is part of its sustained strategy to dismantle the financial infrastructure of narcotics networks by targeting properties allegedly acquired through the proceeds of drug trafficking. It added that such measures are intended to deter those involved in the illegal narcotics trade and strengthen enforcement against organised drug-related crime.
Srinagar Police appealed to the public to continue sharing credible information about drug trafficking and other criminal activities, assuring that strict legal action would be taken against those found involved.
