Two Separate Road Mishaps in Jammu Kashmir: Nine Injured, One Dead

   

SRINAGAR: In two separate road accidents in Poonch district on Thursday, seven passengers sustained injuries in one mishap, while another incident claimed the life of a driver and left two CRPF personnel injured.

In the first accident, a Toyota Xylo vehicle skidded off the road at Kalai Morh, leaving seven people injured. The victims have been identified as Gul Mohd (50) and his wife Kali Begum (45) from Manjakote; Gulzar Hussain (40) and Salma Kouser (24) from Fazalabad Surankote; Saima Kouser (28) from Bathaduharian Mendhar; and Karamat Hussain (40) and Sabja Bi (50) from the same area.

All the injured were rushed to District Hospital Poonch, where their condition is reported to be stable. A police official confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway.

In another accident on the Surankote-Poonch Highway near Dherian Ziarat, a driver lost his life, and two CRPF personnel sustained injuries when their Scorpio vehicle was struck by falling boulders. The incident occurred due to continuous shooting stones in the area.

Despite rescue efforts, the driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the injured CRPF personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have launched an operation in the affected stretch, warning commuters to exercise caution as stone shooting continues to pose risks.  (With inputs from Kashmir Bulletin and JKNS)
