SRINAGAR: Authorities sealed two shops in the Beerwah market of district Budgam after expired food items were found during a market inspection led by Tehsildar Beerwah, Moin Kokru. A joint team comprising officials from Food Safety, Police, and the Municipality confirmed that complaints against the shops were valid.
Tehsildar Beerwah warned meat sellers to strictly adhere to government-fixed prices, cautioning that violations would invite legal action. He also directed all shopkeepers to display rate lists clearly and refrain from unethical trading practices.
Meanwhile, all food business operators have been instructed not to sell expired food items, failing which action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act. (KNT)
