SRINAGAR: Two sisters were killed and two others injured in a road accident when an ambulance turned turtle near Nipora Mir Bazaar area of Qazigund in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday.

An official told news agency GNS that, an Ambulance on way from Jammu towards Srinagar bearing no. PB 02 BY 1387 driven by Umer Jehangir son of  Mohd Jehangir resident of Dangyar Jammu carrying two ladies (COVID Patients) namely Haji Maryam Sheikh and Zareena Shiekh daughters of Gh Mohd Shiekh resident of Sangra Bata Kishtwar turned turtle at Nipora stop due to the over speed by the said driver. In this incident both the ladies died on the spot. Driver and one more person namely Arfan Khan son of Mohd Sadiq resident of Poonch were also injured.

One of the lady’s body is lying in Vessu hospital and another at District hospital Anantnag.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered and an investigation was taken up.

It was later revealed that the two sisters from Kishtwar had gone for treatment to Jammu where they could not manage two beds. So the family decided to send them to Srinagar for treatment and managed an ambulance on huge costs. However, the ambulance met an accident and both of them died well before reaching a ‘better medical facility’.
