Soura encounter concluded on the killing of two militants on Friday, sources said.
Two suspected militants were killed in the outskirts of the city by forces, they added.
They said that two militants travelling in a car tried to run away from a check point at Ahmadnagar in Soura area on Friday afternoon. Policemen chased the car and in the ensuing gun battle, one militant, identified as Qari Israr, was gunned down. One AK-47 rifle was recovered from him. The area was cordoned off as the second militant had taken refuge in a house in the same locality and was subsequently killed in the operation.
“Israr was a Pakistani national and had been active in this area,” police sources said.
Police had intensified random search of vehicles ahead of PM Modi’s visit.
