Police on Tuesday arrested two thieves from Rainawari Srinagar and recovered mobile phones and accessories worth lacs of rupees from their possession.

The police spokesman said that on January 12, this year, Police Station Rainawari received a written application from  Sahil Hussain Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan, a resident of Khawajapora Syedapora Rainawari that some unknown persons have entered his Mobile Shop “A.S. Communication” near Rainawari Chowk  and have stolen mobile phones along with accessories worth lakhs of rupees during the intervening night of 11-12 January.

On this information, a case FIR No 03/2019 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Rainawari and investigation was started.

During the course of investigation, IMEI’s of stolen mobile phones which were kept on surveillance, two suspected persons identified as Altaf Ahmad Shah, son of Mohammad Yousuf Shah, a resident of Khawajapora Syedpora Rainawari and Shahid Ahmad Bhat, son of Assadullah Bhat, a resident of Rangparistan Rainawari were identified and called for questioning. During questioning, the said suspected persons disclosed that they had hatched a conspiracy to rob the said shop from last few days and had already marked that shop.

They further revealed that during the intervening night of 11/12 of January, the said suspects entered the shop after breaking the backside wall which they had already marked and had robbed the shop. On disclosures made by the accused, stolen property including 35 cell phones and accessories worth lacs were recovered from their possession.
