Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure said, “This is a very inaccessible area due to high mountains, a river below, and dense forest. We have information that two to three terrorists are hiding in the middle of this jungle.”

“A search operation is ongoing. All personnel of the involved forces are safe. Despite the tough terrain, the morale of the forces is high, and we are hopeful of success,” the SSP said.

He added that security forces exchanged fire with militants for about two hours and the cordon around them has been tightened.

Pertinently, police and security forces have been tracking terrorists moving between areas following three encounters since the operation began on 24 March in the Sanyal area of Kathua district. Two terrorists and four policemen have been killed in the skirmishes over the past 17 days. (KNO)
