SRINAGAR: Two United States service members were killed, one remains missing and four others were wounded while defending against an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack in Jordan on Friday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Saturday.

In a statement, CENTCOM said the casualties occurred on July 17 as US and partner forces responded to a barrage of Iranian ballistic missiles and drones targeting Jordan.
“Two US service members in Jordan were killed in action as CENTCOM and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks,” the statement said, adding that one service member remains missing in action.
CENTCOM said four wounded service members were taken to Jordanian hospitals for treatment and have since been discharged. It added that other personnel evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty.
The command said it would withhold the identities of the deceased and the missing service member out of respect for their families until at least 24 hours after their next of kin had been notified.
No further details about the incident or the missing service member were immediately released.
