SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir may receive light rain and snowfall over higher reaches around November 5, followed by another spell of possible precipitation on November 10 and 11, Meteorological Department Director Mukhtar Ahmad said on Tuesday.

Ahmad said a weak Western Disturbance was approaching the region and could trigger light rainfall at isolated places and snowfall over some higher-altitude areas.
The weather is expected to remain largely dry from after the first system until November 9, he said.
Another weak to moderate Western Disturbance is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir on November 10 and 11, bringing the possibility of light rain in parts of the Valley and Jammu division, along with light snowfall in higher reaches of north and central Kashmir.
Isolated thundershowers are also possible during this period, although no significant weather activity is currently anticipated, Ahmad said.
He said temperatures were gradually declining and were likely to drop further in the coming days, adding that winter had almost set in across the region.
Shallow fog has also started appearing over plains during morning hours, while slightly hazy conditions have been observed, potentially affecting visibility in the coming days and weeks.
On agricultural activities, Ahmad advised farmers to continue harvesting and other field operations, including fresh sowing, threshing and field preparation.
He also urged travellers to follow traffic advisories while travelling.
