Two persons of central Kashmir’s Budgam district were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and have been shifted to Kotbalwal Jail in Jammu on Thursday.

A police official told Global News Service (GNS) that the two youths Saqib Bhat (23), son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat and Bilal Ahmad Bhat, (25) son of Ghulam Mohammad of Zaber Mohalla, Budgam were arrested by police on May 31 last month after they made a failed attempt to set the shrine ablaze of Agha Syed Mehdi Al Safvi Al Mousvi on intervening night of May 29/30.

Subsequently, police had filed a case under FIR number 140/2015, u/s 436, 427, 295 RPC in this regard.

However, today after remaining in police custody for eleven consecutive days, the youths were booked under PSA (DM no. 3-4 dated 09-06-2015) for attempting to burn the shrine, he said.

The duo was shifted to Kotbilwal Jail in Jammu region soon after the district magistrate booked them under PSA, the official said.
