UAPA Case: Jammu Kashmir Police Initiate Attachment of Properties Worth Rs 1 Crore

   

SRINAGAR: Police in Handwara area of north kashmir’s Kupwara district have initiated proceedings for the attachment of two immovable properties in Langate, north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, with an estimated combined value of Rs 1 crore, in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The properties belong to two individuals who are stated to be residing in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), according to a police statement issued on Saturday.

The attachment proceedings relate to FIR No. 198/2003 registered at Handwara Police Station under the UAPA. Police said the action was initiated in compliance with directions issued by the competent court as part of the ongoing legal proceedings in the case.

One of the properties is land measuring one kanal and two marlas at Kohru in Langate, belonging to Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Abdullah Bhat, a resident of Kohru. He is presently stated to be residing in Muzaffarabad in PoK.

The second property comprises seven kanals and 11 marlas of land at Udipora in Langate, belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Lone, son of Gh Qadir Lone, a resident of Udipora. He is stated to be residing in Basnada in PoK.

The combined estimated value of the two properties is approximately Rs 1 crore, police said.

The action forms part of the legal proceedings in the case and is being carried out pursuant to the court’s directions.

Jammu and Kashmir Police said it remained committed to enforcing the law, implementing judicial orders and pursuing legal action against absconders in accordance with legal procedures.
