JK Governor, NN Vohra, Monday expressed sympathy over the loss of precious human lives in a tragic road accident which occurred near Latti in Udhampur district this morning.

Conveying his grief to the bereaved families the Governor prayed for the speedy recovery of all those injured in this ghastly accident, an official statement said this evening.

Spokesperson of the Raj Bhavan conveyed the Governor’s deep regret that, despite the recurrence of fatal road accidents, definitive remedial steps had still to be initiated.

“In this context, it was recalled that certain decisions had been taken in a meeting of the State Road Safety Council which was held during the recent spell of Governor’s Rule and, apparently, no action had so far been taken to implement them,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, deputy CM Dr Nirmal directed district administration for urgent airlifting of injured to GMC.

He expressed profound grief and shock over tragic bus accident at Latti, Udhampur which has precious lives and rendered several injured, the statement said.

“Immediately, on hearing about this unfortunate mishap, the Deputy CM instructed the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur to strictly monitor the relief and rescue operation being carried out for these victims to ensure them timely treatment besides other facilities. He asked the DC to immediately airlift the seriously injured passengers for advanced treatment at GMC, Jammu. He exhorted upon the district administration to make sure that the victims of this tragic road accident would get due compensation at the earliest,” the statement added.

The Deputy CM also directed the GMC to extend quality diagnostic and treatment facilities to the injured for their early recovery.
