SRINAGAR: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and credit-awarding institutions across the country to upload students’ academic records for the examination year 2025 on the National Academic Depository (NAD) and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) platform by June 30, 2026.
In a notice issued to universities and colleges, the UGC stressed the need for timely uploading of marksheets, grade sheets and related credit information to strengthen the implementation of the Academic Bank of Credits framework under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The Commission said that academic records linked with students’ Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) IDs will facilitate credit accumulation, credit transfer between institutions, credit redemption, multiple entry and exit options, and other student-centric academic services.
UGC has warned that institutions failing to upload examination year 2025 records by the June 30 deadline may not be provided another opportunity to submit fresh records later.
The Commission further clarified that corrections or modifications to records already uploaded on the NAD-ABC platform would be permitted only in exceptional circumstances and subject to the platform’s prescribed rules.
The directive forms part of ongoing efforts to operationalise the Academic Bank of Credits system, which enables students to digitally store, transfer and utilise academic credits earned from recognised institutions across the country.
