Denouncing arrest of resistance leadership, Chairman of United Jihad Council (UJC) Syed SallahuDin has flayed authorities in Jammu and Kashmir for the crackdown on Separatist leadership and youth.

“Arresting APHC leader Shabir Ahmed Shah and detaining the ailing leader Syed Ali Geelani and apprehending hundreds of Muthida Majlis-e-Mushawarat activists by Indian authorities is highly condemnable”, Syed Sallahudin said while addressing a session of the Council.

Sallahudin has urged the intellectuals and the youth of Kashmir to come forward and play their role to maintain the continuity of the “freedom struggle”, reads a statement issued by UJC.

Hailing the unanimously adopted resolution by the Parliament of Pakistan, he has said, “The unanimous resolution passed by the national assembly of Pakistan against the execution of Muhammad Afzal Guru is based on reality and principles. It is a welcome step and we appreciate it.”

The UJC chief has said that “Indian troops and authorities have transformed the entire valley of Kashmir into a military garrison thereby clamping down curfew, imposing undue restrictions on peoples’ movement and arresting the pro-freedom leaders.”

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the convener of APHC-M Pak chapter Mehmood Ahmed Saghar condemned the arrest of DFP chief Shabir Ahmed Shah and termed it as “outrageous assault on the basic human rights”.

He said, “Shah is being punished for his indomitable role in the ongoing freedom struggle and particularly for his efforts to forge broad-based unity amongst the pro-freedom leaders”.

The APHC-M convener has also hailed Pakistan’s resolution on Kashmir and termed it as a positive development.
Mehmood Ahmed Saghar also condemned the house arrest of APHC chairman and arresting of Syed Ali Gilani and other leaders.

He also urged the international community take effective cognizance of the simmering situation in Kashmir.
