SRINAGAR

United Jihad Council (UJC) chairman and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen chief Syed Salah-ud-Din Thursday termed Zubin Mehta
musical concert on September 7 Srinagar as rubbing salt to the wounds of Kashmiri people.

In an emailed statement, the UJC spokesperson Syed Sadakat Hussain quoting Salah-ud-Din said, “From 1947 till date five lakh Kashmiris have been killed by Indian troops, more than 10 thousand have been subjected to enforced disappearances, hundreds of women have been raped and the process is still on. Germany which claims to be the champion of human rights didn’t ever bother to send a delegation to Kashmir to see the situation. But to rub salt on the wounds of Kashmiris, they had no problem in organising a musical concert in Srinagar.”

“They want to give this impression to the world that freedom movement in Kashmir has ended. The attitude of German rulers is regrettable,” he added.

While supporting the strike call given by Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday, the UJC chairman said that Kashmiri nation will hold peaceful protests on September 6 and observe complete strike on September 7 to show to the world that freedom movement in the state is on “and won’t end till it reaches to its logical conclusion.”
