Independent candidates have won eight wards out of 13 wards of Municipal Committee Kargil elections.
Officials said that Congress secured 5 wards. The winners include four women.
The counting for the recently concluded Municipal Committee elections is underway in Jammu and Kashmir.
Two main regional parties, National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party, have boycotted the polls to protest attacks on state subject laws.
