Wednesday morning saw government forces on their toes to foil the proposed UN Chalo call given by Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, in the backdrop of Shopian killings. While aged-separatist was caged in local police lock-up, ire of dissidence erupted near his residence and was subsequently doused by state security apparatus. Wire Wrap: To prevent dissidence to beckon at UN office in Srinagar’s Sonwar locality, cops laid wires on roads to hamper the movement of incoming protest.
Peeking Personnel: To ensure streets free from the “threatening” situation, vigilance wasn’t a meek one on Wednesday. It was a day out for pro-freedom camp, but establishment was equally ready to derail the intentions.
Signpost Stamp: State Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s residence isn’t far away from the destiny of the day. It was but natural when signposts emerge and hamper mobility on roads.
Cornered Corporal: Far from the hush of Sonwar, the alleys leading to the residence of Hurriyat (G) leader, Syed Ali Geelani in Srinagar’s Hyderpora were already blocked by government forces to prevent him to move ahead with his program.
Incarcerated Icon: And then big news of the day emerged. Syed Ali Geelani was arrested while stepping outside his home for UN chalo.
Advocating Adrenalin: While news broke out that Geelani has been detained and lodged in Humhama Police Station, the men in black raised their fists in air to support the call. The protesting lawyers were confined within their arena in court and couldn’t take their protest out on streets.
Under Umbrella: With police vehicles manning the roads leading to Hurriyat (G) chairman residence, silhouette of security ensured the life sans normalcy.
Pointing Police: For the day, police and paramilitary were the ‘mover and shaker’ on roads, who were seen to ‘thwart’ any attempt to tame simmer on roads.
Incoming Ire: Meanwhile, news of Geelani’s arrest reached his party-men and supporters, who rush towards his residence by pitching slogans.
Security Surge: Limbs of law were also assembling near Geelani’s residence in Hyderpora to counter the incoming protestors.
Smoked Simmer: As tear-gas shells started bursting, it was U-turn for dissidents.
Stone Shoot: And then, stones were hurled to vent out the resentment.
Rumbling Run: Soon the chase began to hunt down the protesting youth, who by then had disappeared in alleys and streets.
Clearance Crew: The protestors had incepted road with stone assemblage as a mark of protest. Meanwhile, cops soon got busy in clearance mode.
Inquiring Identity: And soon, it was back to square one. Cops stationed outside Hurriyat chairman’s residence swung into action and start scanning, as usual.
Covering Cops: On the main road that leads to Geelani’s residence, ASP Harmeet Singh has placed his makeshift office.
