While reiterating that un-employment problem is the major challenge before the Government, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather Thursday underscored the need for coordinated efforts to give push forward to various self-employment schemes in vogue in the state to provide economically viable and technically feasible job avenues to the un-employed youth.
Speaking at a meeting of the Employment Facilitating Agency, a body to oversee the functioning of all employment related organizations and monitor the progress of employment schemes in the State, Rather said that there was a dire need to create synergy among various skill development initiatives to ensure intake of unemployed youth in various organizations as per the market demand.
“Our endeavor should be to create need based skilled human resource by tying up with various skill development Institutions and providing on hassle-free credit facilities to the entrepreneurs to ensure success of various self-employment schemes”, Rather asserted adding that achievements on this account would be co-related with the performance of the officers at the helm of officers to make them more accountable.
Rather called for developing an authentic data base about both physical as well financial position of various self-employment ventures on the ground suggesting that related departments should further improve coordination with each other to ensure full proof monitoring mechanism in this regard.
“Main effort and aim should be employment generation for the un-employed youth, who should be in no case made to suffer for want of adequate and timely financial support or red tap,” he said.
He asked the concerned officers to focus on creating employment opportunities in potential sectors of economy and arrange tie-ups with financial Institutions for raising credit for starting Self-employment ventures adding that these measures can prove very fruitful in combating the ever growing un-employment problem in the State.
