Unexpected Snowfall In Kashmir

As the incessant rain continues to lash Kashmir since Monday night and brought down the temperature Pahalgam and the upper reaches of Kashmir witnessed fresh snowfall, on April 16. The officials at Srinagar based Meteorology Department said that the weather will improve by tomorrow.

“The rainfall is due to western disturbances and weather will improve tomorrow,” an official in Meteorology Department told Kashmir Life over phone.

Incessant rains have brought down temperature eventually. In Srinagar, temperature was recorded at 6.8 degree Celsius, while zero degree Celsius temperature was recorded at Gulmarg. Moderate snow fall was also reported from few high altitude places with Banihal witnessing slight hail storm.

The official added that Pahalgam and Shopian witnessed Snow fall along with rains.

Meteorology Department officials said that western disturbances will again impact weather on April 20 and 21. “There is a possibility of rainfall again on April 20 and 21, as the weather is likely to be cloudy,” the official informed.

Reportedly the fresh snowfall and the hailstorms have added to the woes of the people related to the agriculture sector.
