The statement government Friday said that Union Government has approved Rs 379.55 lakh project for the development of Khiram Shrine in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara town.

Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf Abdul Rehman Veeri on behalf of Minister for Tourism while replying to a Calling Attention Notice of Dr Bashir Ahmad Shah in the Legislative Council said that the Project “Development of Shrine of Hazratbal at Khiram Bijbehara” has been sanctioned by Union Ministry of Tourism during 2012-13 at a cost of Rs 379.55 lakh.

He said that funds to the extent of Rs. 303.64 lakh have been released during 2012-13 and 2014-15 for the purpose.

An official statement said that the work on the project is going on smoothly. “However, during the winter season the pace of work remained slow, but the fact is that the work on the project was never stopped,” it clarified.
