Union Home Secretary Chairs Key Security, Development Meeting in Srinagar

   

SRINAGAR: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan chaired a high-level meeting for the second consecutive day at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The discussions focused on the security and development agenda of Jammu and Kashmir.

News agency KINS reported that the meeting held on Tuesday afternoon, included Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and senior officials from security forces and the civil administration.

Sources revealed that the review covered the progress of centrally sponsored flagship schemes, infrastructure development projects, and employment initiatives in the region.

The meeting also highlighted the tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir and discussed how peace and development could further enhance this vital sector.

Before departing for New Delhi, the Home Secretary was expected to assess the implementation of these key projects.

A senior official said, “The focus was on ensuring that centrally sponsored schemes directly benefit the people of Jammu and Kashmir, contributing to the region’s overall development and stability.”

In an earlier session, Govind Mohan emphasised the importance of a balanced approach by security agencies, urging them to build community relationships while maintaining firm counter-terrorism measures.

“A holistic strategy combining people-friendly initiatives with uncompromising counter-terrorism efforts is crucial for a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.

The previous day’s meeting was attended by senior officials, including IB Director Tapan Kumar Deka, NIA Director Sadanand Vasant Date, DG BSF Daljit Singh Chaudhary, CRPF DG Anish Dayal Singh, and J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat. High-ranking military leaders, such as GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen Prashant Srivastav and GOC 16 Corps Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, were also present.
