Expressing shock and grief over the killing of yet another youth, Gowhar Ahmad Rather, of Kangan, by the men in uniform, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has called upon the High Commissioner for the Human Rights to send a fact-finding mission to Kashmir.

The party secretary general, Moulana Mohammad Abdullah Tari reiterated his party stand and stressed upon the UN Secretary-General to appoint a Special Envoy for Jammu Kashmir with a mandate to implement UN Security Council resolutions. Moulana Tari said that our youth are being massacred every now and then so the world body must not confine to mere lip service.

The party expressed deep shock and grief over the indiscriminate and vicious killing of Kashmiri youth by the government forces and their local collaborators. He said that forces even attacked the mourners and protesters resulting in injuries to over 200 civilians among whom many were reported to be in a critical condition.

JKDFP emphasised that Indian attempts to label the legitimate Kashmir struggle as terrorism cannot deter the valiant people of Jammu Kashmir from exercising their right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations (UN) resolutions.

JKDFP called on the international community to urge India to allow access to UN observers to lead fact-finding missions to Jammu Kashmir.  JKDFP also condemned the killings in Kashmir.
