Amid apprehensions, the family members of Kralpora Dardpora in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district that their two men might have been killed in a fake encounter, police Tuesday submitted case dairy before Court of Law in frontier district Kupwara.

The Court directed police to trace the accused army men and produce him in person within a day.

Two civilians Ghulam Jeelani Khatana son of Karamuddin and Mir Hussain Khatana son of Muhammad Ismail both residents of Kralapora Dardpora area of North Kashmir’s frontier district Kupwara are ‘untraceable’ since November 17, the day when Indian Army launched a lengthy search operation in Manigah Haihama area in which two militants were reportedly killed while another militant as per the army statement slipped to death accidently.

The family members of these missing persons claimed that a man from Territorial Army working in 160 Battalion Hari Trehgam camp whom they identified as Manzoor Ahmed Khawaja son of Ghulam Qadir also a resident of Kralpora Dardpora took them along on November 17 and since then they are untraceable. “On November 24, when we called on the mobile number (9797717621) of Manzoor, he claimed that he has been waiting for them near Kawnain Gate Keran while on the next day, Manzoor dropped the phone by claiming that both Jaeelani and Mir Hussain are not with him and he doesn’t know where they are,” the family members of the missing persons told CNS.

“We met an Army Major who assured us that matter will be resolved once contact with Manzoor will be established. But the said officer now refuses to oblige our repeated phone calls. The irony is that even Manzoor is untraceable now and we don’t know whether he is inside the army camp or outside somewhere,” the family members said adding that Manzoor frequently used to visit their homes as he is also the resident of the same village where they live.

The family members said that they believe that both Jeelani and Mir Hussain might have been killed “in a fake encounter on the pattern of Machhil one”. “We registered a case in police station Kralpora while Judicial Magistrate Kupwara Mansoor Ahmed sought details of the case from them,” they said.

A police official informed that they presented the status of the case before the Court. “An FIR vide number 100/2015 under section 364 already stand registered in police station. We have been looking for the whereabouts of Territorial Army man Manzoor Khawaja whose mobile is not operational. The truth will surface after the arrest of the accused Manzoor Khawaja,” he said.
