SRINAGAR: Five days after a Srinagar-bound bus was pelted with stones near Doraha in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, Khanna Police on Friday arrested one accused in connection with the incident, while two others remained absconding.
Media reports suggest police identified the arrested accused as Abhishek alias Golu, a native of Tadi Ghat village in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district, who currently resides in Doraha. Two of his alleged accomplices, who also pelted the bus with stones, are absconding, police said.
The bus, which was travelling from Delhi to Srinagar, came under attack around 11 pm on Sunday near Doraha. The incident shattered one of its windowpanes. The bus belongs to Kashmir-based transporter Star World Venture.
Khanna Police said the incident was neither a hate crime nor linked to an incident reported in Haryana, dismissing speculation about a possible connection between the two cases.
