The University of Kashmir (UoK) on Friday asked its affiliated colleges to upload the requisite information on the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) portal without any delay.

Chairing the inaugural session of a day-long workshop on ‘Uploading of data for AISHE for 2014-2015 and 2015-2016’, the University’s Registrar Prof Musadiq Amin Sahaf—who is also the Chairperson of AISHE Cell for Kashmir—said: “Uploading this information is very important for not only policy planning vis-à-vis higher education, but for further affiliation of the colleges as well. As per the MHRD guidelines, the registration of the defaulting colleges can also be withheld.”

Prof Sahaf said the delay will also affect the funding pattern under various central schemes like RUSA and can have “far-reaching consequences for overall growth and development of higher education sector in Kashmir.”

The workshop was organized by the University’s Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA) in collaboration with State’s Higher Education Department for Principals/Nodal Officers of all affiliated/constituent colleges of the University, a UoK statement informed this evening.

In his welcome address, Director DIQA, Prof Fayaz Ahmad, gave an overview of AISHE. Joint Director, Higher Education Department, Altaf Hussain Qadri and Principal Amar Singh College Prof M Aslam Baba also spoke on the occasion. Deputy Director DIQA Showket Shafi conducted proceedings of the workshop.

Under the AISHE, the Ministry of Human Resource Development collects online information on higher educational institutions for making informed policy decisions.
