Srinagar: In its efforts to create awareness about the hazards of drug abuse, Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday presented shows of Urdu Play Parvaaz, in Srinagar and Islamabad.

In Srinagar the play was staged at Tagore Hall and was witnessed by a huge number of people including civil society members, media persons, students and many respectable citizens.

To reach out the people on social media the event was connected live on facebook through police media centre Kashmir.

The splendid performance of the artists evoked excellent crowd support and the auditorium witnessed round of applause in praise of the artists. The message of the play was appealing and was appreciated by the youth audience.

Speaking before the play at Tagore Hall Srinagar, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range GH Bhat said that Jammu and Kashmir police besides its all-out drive against the drug peddlers has taken a step forward to aware the people particularity the younger generation about the hazards of drug abuse by presenting this play and by organizing others awareness programs across the valley.

He further said that Jammu and Kashmir police has opened Drug de-addiction centers in Srinagar, Baramulla and Islamabad in which over twenty thousand affected persons have been treated till now.

He said that the department is working for enhancing the bed capacity of the center at Srinagar and is also attempting to provide better facilities by augmenting resources.

In Islamabad the play was staged at Government Women’s College KP Road and was attended by a number of respectable citizens, civil society members and a great number of students.

In his introduction, Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir range, SP Pani said that staging the play is aimed to aware the people about the ill effects of drugs addiction. He also highlighted the role of society as a whole in fight against the drug addiction.
