SRINAGAR: With the killing of two militants who had engaged army in a day long gun battle, the encounter in Uri’s Kalgi village is over. One militant had already been killed in the morning.

Syed Javed Ahmad, a DySP in the area told Kashmir Life that the operation is over. Searches were also carried out but the people who were evacuated earlier have not returned home, so far.

Police said a desperate squad will come, scan the area and hand it over to the families. It will take some more time for the clearance, they said.

The operation witnessed injuries to four civilians, one getting a bullet in his leg, besides a soldier. It was not immediately known whose houses went up in smoke. The area continues to be under tight restrictions.
