A review meeting of different departments in Uri was held on Tuesday which was presided over by lawmaker Mohammad Shafi Uri.

The meeting was held in Dak Bunglow in Bandi village of Uri constituency in Baramulla district of Kashmir.

Reports said that Uri reached his native place three days to take stock of the situation in the area in the backdrop of LoC tensions. Uri is the last habitable area on this side of the LoC of the divided Kashmir.

Many delegations from different sections of the society met the lawmaker who is a senior National Conference politician and has held various ministerial positions in past well.

“MLA promised them of solving their grievances at priority,” local sources said.

The meeting was attended by sub-divisional magistrate Uri among other top officials from different departments including Education Department, Police, PHE Department, R&B Department, Health services, Agriculture Department, Social Forestry, Rural Development Department, and Food and Supplies Department.

As per the reports, the lawmaker directed the officials of the departments concerned to ensure regularity of employees.

“The area is facing drinking water scarcity. The wells, pumps and springs have started to dry up and all these issues came up for discussions and the departments were asked to get them solves,” they added.

The reports said that the lawmaker asked the PHE department to supply drinking water to the most affected localities from filtration pumps working on river water.

Meanwhile, in view of the tensions on Line of Control, the lawmaker asked the official to remain prompt, alert and at disposal of public to avoid civilian crisis.
