According to the report, Rashmi Thackeray tied a saffron thread (‘Shiv Bandhan’) on Urmila’s wrist and inducted her in the party.

Urmila, who is married to a Srinagar resident, had contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls as a Congress candidate, was defeated by BJP’s Gopal Shetty from North Mumbai constituency. However, she had quit the party in September alleging in-house politics and said that she did not find support from its leaders, said the report.

Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government recently recommended Urmila’s name for nomination to the state legislative council from the governor’s quota along with other 11 members. The governor is yet to approve the list of 12 names, reported The Times Of India.
